If you aren’t enthusiastic about the role, the employer will be able to tell and you won’t get the job compared to someone who is.

Starting out in the programming world is incredibly difficult, and this is especially true if you don’t have any previous experience of the job. Because technology always evolves, you have to always stay in the loop with new developments and make sure that you keep on learning. When you are home you will want to be doing your own reading on the subject and following the top companies in the world to see what new things they are bringing out. It takes a lot of time out of your life so make sure you are willing to do the research.
Get involved
The key to being as successful as you can be in the programming industry is to network with other people. Take the time to go on LinkedIn and speak to people, join groups, meet up with other professionals and discuss your work. You can always benefit from bouncing off someone else’s ideas so bear this in mind when it comes to being a programmer.

It’s not just about learning extra programming in your spare time, you can also benefit hugely by brushing up on your other IT skills. Think about any part of using a computer which you could improve on and take the time to learn how to use it properly. A programmer is a part of each machine so you need to get to know your machine inside and out. Keep on learning throughout your life because it will help you to be better at your job.

Freelancing as a programmer can be a hugely lucrative job because people all over the world need programmers to work on projects for them. You can benefit from being able to work anywhere you want, for however many hours you want and to charge what you want for the job too. You will have a lot of freedom and programming will become a great job for you.
