(Akiit.comThere are many people out there that share the same goals; to be fit and healthy. You try your hardest to go to the gym and exercise as much as possible. Even if you don’t have access to a gym, you can still get a good workout in anywhere you like!

However, a lot of people get demoralized as they can’t seem to see any progress. Try as they might, the results just don’t show. Today, I’ll help you tackle this problem by revealing three strange things that might be holding you back.

Wrong Footwear

You might not believe this, but the wrong footwear can be what’s holding you back in the gym. Different footwear is better suited for different exercises and workout routines. For example, if you’re on the treadmill or doing a lot of cardio training then you need footwear like running trainers. Things with good support and shock absorbers as you’ll be bouncing off the balls of your feet as you run, jump, etc. If you’re wearing flat soled trainers with no support, then you can weightlifingblackman20162017hurt your feet and injure yourself as well as fail to exercise to the peak of your ability.

When it comes to the serious heavy lifting, then you need proper shoes for that too. In this case, running trainers can actually be bad as they can prevent you from getting proper contact with the ground and creating a stable base. What you really need is a pair of weightlifting shoes for real results. These are designed to help you create a stable base and generated power through the floor that translates into your lifts. This type of footwear is ideal for any lifts that require you to stand on two feet, particularly squats and deadlifts.

With the right footwear, you can workout to the peak of your abilities and reduce the chances of sustaining injuries that keep you out of the gym for weeks/months. Look into changing your footwear if you’re struggling to see results.

Lack Of Direction

There are two types of people that enter the gym and look to get fit. In one corner you have the guys and girls that walk in and know exactly what they’re doing every day. They have routines planned out and know what exercises to do and crack on with what their workouts. In the other corner, you have the people that walk in without any real sense of direction. They’ve not given their workout much thought and just kind of drift from section to section doing a load of random exercises. If you fall into the second category, then it’s easy to see what’s holding you back in the gym. You don’t have a sense of direction when you’re working out, you just do anything you fancy. You need to have a structured plan laid out for each week if you want to see results.

The reason workout plans are so popular is because they provide people with set routines that they can follow. Then, everyone goes on about how amazing and genius these workout plans are, and everyone buys into them. The truth is, they’re not providing anything other than basic workout advice. If you split your week up and train different muscle groups each day and know what exercises you’re doing, you will see better results. You train with more purpose and waste less time in the gym too. When you know exactly what you have to do you can get on with it and move from exercise to exercise rather than wandering around looking for something different to do.

Don’t let a lack of direction hold you back from reaching your goals in the gym. It’s such a common thing that costs so many men and women from achieving what they want to achieve. All you need to do is create workout plans and follow them, simple!

Poor Nutrition

So, we’ve arrived at the number one reason people don’t see the best results in the gym; poor nutrition. When you’re in the gym, you can work out as hard as can be. You can power through each set and leave drenched in sweat with sore muscles. It can feel good, you feel on top of the world like you’re finally going to start seeing progress. Then, what do you do? You go home and eat something that provides no nutritional value to your body at all. You have some unhealthy snacks later in the day to make things even worse. For dinner, you have something else that’s not aiding your gains. What a lot of people don’t understand is that working out is only part of what you need to do. You must have good nutrition and eat healthily too! If you don’t, then you won’t see gains because what you’re putting into your body negates the effects of exercise.

A prime example of this is when people want to lose weight and see no results. They try their butt off in the gym and still wonder why they’re not seeing results. The problem is, they may burn hundreds of calories when they workout, but they also consumer hundreds of calories, sometimes more than they burn. So, they either stay the same weight or gain weight. Even people that want to build muscle need to pay attention to their diet. You need to eat foods that help with muscle growth and contain protein and carbs. The massive mistake people make is they think it’s all about protein, protein, protein. They eat ten eggs and two whole chickens a day with a protein shake for good measure. Our bodies don’t actually need that much protein, and nutrition experts say you need carbs with your protein anyway. Without carbs, the protein doesn’t get absorbed into the system properly.

Basically, you need to sort your diet out if you want to see the best results. Your poor eating habits could be the thing that’s been holding you back in the gym for so long.

Are any of these things holding you back? Switch up your footwear, set workout routines, and follow a healthy diet. Then, you should see the best results.
