(Akiit.comWhen humans eat, we absorb nutrients from the food that we digest. For instance, meats like chicken and beef are full of protein which is required by our bodies to repair and build muscles. Similarly, carbohydrates are needed to provide us with energy. This is the reason why many dieticians suggest that we eat a variety of foods. We need to mix a bit of everything to ensure that we get the right nutrients, but what happens when we don’t get enough?

If you have a diet that consists of purely junk food or meat, then you aren’t getting enough vitamins and minerals that are found in vegetables and fruit. This is where supplements come in handy. Supplements are, as the name suggests, made to supplement our diets. So in the case of a chronic meat-eater, they would take vitamins and minerals to make up for their lack of fresh vegetables and fruits. However, is this really a healthy idea? Let’s explore what supplements can do, can’t do, and how to take them responsibly.

Supplements can improve overall body health

Supplements are essentially nutrients and minerals packed into a small pill. For instance, humans need vitamin C to promote healthy skin and boost your immune system. You can either get this from eating lots of fruits and vegetables like oranges, broccoli and strawberries, or you could take a vitamin C supplement that provides the same nutrients in order to promote better body health. Supplements can also target specific things you want to improve in your body, such as Caruso’s male fertility supplements which contain a blend of ingredients that help stimulate energy and stamina and help with a low libido. You can also buy special supplements that are targeted at weight loss, such as green tea supplements which give a boost of caffeine and help raise your metabolism.

Supplements cannot perform miracles

However, it’s important to note that supplements cannot perform miracles. You will still suffer the most common health issues as you grow older, and they heal what medicine can’t treat. Instead, think of supplements as a way to shield your body from further Harm. It will protect you as best it can and as long as you take supplements alongside your regular meals, you’ll eventually build up resilience to all kinds of diseases and illnesses while bolstering your own health.

Supplements are made to be eaten with food, not as a substitute

Even though we can get nutrients and minerals from supplements, they shouldn’t be seen as replacements to eating. Humans need calories to burn as fuel, so if you’re concerned about your nutrient intake then you should first look at your diet and try to eat nutrient-dense foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, instead of relying on supplements. Again, as the name suggests, supplements are made to supplement your diet, not replace it! As long as you treat them like additions to your food and not miracle pills, supplements can be used to drastically improve your overall health.
